very good keitai flip
I’ve been using the Sharp SH-01J for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been a refreshing change from modern smartphones. The flip design brings back a nostalgic feel, and the build quality is solid. Battery life is impressive, easily lasting two days with moderate use. However, the lack of Google services is a downside, and installing apps requires some technical know-how. Overall, it’s a great device for those looking to disconnect from constant notifications.
I got the Sharp Docomo SH-01J about a week ago, and I’m really enjoying it! Here’s a quick review of my experience and setup process.
Network:The phone works perfectly with 4G in my country (Spain).Tip: Check your local carrier’s bands to see if they match these before buying.
Apps & Performance:I installed apps using Minimal ADB Fastboot and sometimes use the pre installed APKPure. Make sure the app versions are compatible with Android 5.1.1 (e.g., Spotify 8.5, Instagram Lite). The phone has 1GB of RAM, so it can be a bit slow and laggy—patience is key!
Storage:There’s 8GB of internal storage, with a microSD slot supporting up to 32GB. Apps go to phone storage, but I use the SD card for music and photos.
Customization:I customized the phone with Microsoft Launcher and Whicons icons. Tutorials on YouTube, like MITSUKO’s, are helpful.
Call Quality:Calling out works fine, but I sometimes have issues receiving calls. This might be related to my carrier.
Overall, I use this phone for calls, music, and a bit of social detox. It’s futuristic-looking with the cursor on the screen, and I don’t regret the purchase.
The SH-01J is basically identical to the 601SH, but with Docomo branding and for a much cheaper price. Same great build quality, same Android experience, but you save a lot just because it’s branded differently. Definitely a smart choice if you want the 601SH but don’t mind the Docomo label!
It’s super cute! The flip is soooo fun, and it just feels nice to hold. Like, every time I close it, I feel like I’m in a movie or something, lol.
It’s great for calls and texting, which is really all I wanted it for. I don’t need a million apps anymore, but I did figure out how to get Spotify and Telegram through the installed app store. The only thing is the camera is meh, but honestly, I wasn’t expecting much there. Overall, if you’re looking for something simple and adorable, I’d say give it a try!
